Chinese coin wins the Grand Prize. China's work expresses the multiple emotional attitudes of human beings through the behaviors and habits and expectations in life.
Chinese theater piece "Walking Amongst a utopia" won the grand prize of the 10th International Festival of university theater of Fez (FITUF), initiated from May 6 to 10
Written and directed by Li Li Xiapeng Chenchuan, the work expresses the multiple emotional attitudes of human beings through the behaviors and habits such as marriage, friendship and love as well as their hopes and expectations in life.
The special prize of jury returned to the Italian theater piece "Bastards in the mind" while the award for best set design was also won by "Walking Amongst a utopia." The Bulgarian theater piece "Orpheus or go back to your hell human" has, meanwhile, won the prize for best theatrical staging.
Initiated by the University Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah in partnership with the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social, the FITUF tends to share experiences and theatrical expertise, exchange ideas between artists and actors and to discuss issues related to the artistic creativity.
Become a cultural meeting place and a forum for promoting creativity and education for citizenship, the festival was attended by troupes representing China, Bulgaria, Serbia, Italy, Germany, Cameroon and Oman, in addition to the host country.
This edition was marked by a tribute to Moroccan artist Naima El Mcharki and Emirati artist Marei Al Halyane. The FITUF program also included training workshops on directing, set design and body movement led by academics and playwrights and signature of publications and discussion meetings.
The previous edition of FITUF saw the participation of a dozen theater groups Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, Ivory Coast, Central African Republic, Sudan, Palestine, Qatar and Morocco.
